Seminar for Librarians of Thenmaradchy Educational Zone
Zonal education office, Thenmaradchy conducted a seminar to librarians attached to the Thenmaradchy Educational Zone on 4th of July, 2015 in Chavakachcheri Ladies’ College from 8.00am to 4.30pm. Members of Noolaham Foundation’s staff were invited as resource persons to share the knowledge about Library Automation and Digital Library with the participants. About thirty librarians from the Thenmaradchy Educational Zone benefited from this event. NF director Mr.Seran Sivananthamoorthy, Communication and Public Relations Officer Mr.Srivakeesan Sriranganathan, Digital Library Officer Mr.Prabahar Nadarjah and Finance and Administrative Officer Ms. Gajani Satchithanandan participated in the seminar on behalf of Noolaham Foundation.
The seminar was started with an address by Ms. Sivanangai Uruththiramoorthy, Libraries Coordinator, Thenmaradchy Educational Zone. Director of Noolaham Foundation Mr.Seran Sivananthamoorthy also gave an address at the beginning of this event. The first session, which was on Library Automation and Manual Library Management, was facilitated by Mr.Prabahar Nadarjah. He presented some interesting and important ideas on several topics on Library Automation and how to use the “Koha” software in automation and the benefits of the software. The second session was facilitated by Mr.Srivakeesan Sriranganathan. It was about Digital Library and Documentation. Noolaham Foundation’s digital library was shown as the best example of the digital libraries popular among the Sri Lankan Tamil speaking community. Ms.Gajani Satchithanandan introduced the achievements of Foundation’s “Pallikkoodam” project in this Session. It was a great experience for the participants and they presented in this session many new ideas.
Participants shared their valuable comments and ideas in each of these sessions. They thanked to NF at the end of this seminar. The event came to an end at 4.30 pm with the vote of thanks by Mr. Srivakeesan Sriranganathan.
