Permission obtained from Suriya women's development center to digitize their publications in Noolalaham Foundation digital library

“Suriya” women’s development center granted their permission to Noolaham Foundation to digitize and display their publications in Noolaham Foundation’s digital library on the 30th of June, 2015. These publications could be accessed by viewers free of charge. Suriya has been engaged in several activities targeting the empowerment and welfare of women for many years in Batticaloa. Many scholars and social activists have contributed immensely to this organization’s achievements. The organization has brought out several publications and they have been circulated all around the world. Noolaham Foundation has archived few of their publications so far.

Also, “Suriya” women’s development center has expressed their interest in collaborating with Noolaham Foundation to digitize and archive their publications in the future. Suriya’s editor and the library and documentation officer of the organization participated in a valuable discussion with the Communication Officer of Noolaham Foundation in Suriya’s library.

The feminist journal ‘Penn’ (பெண்-Woman) has been published by Suriya since 1996. Currently, they publish 2 issues annually dealing with a variety of women’s rights issues, providing voice and space for women writers to express their views. Penn Magazine has been recognized as an important Tamil language journal and has been regularly referred to in the mainstream media and television programs regarding women’s rights.
